Wishing for a snow day? "The Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats follows the adventures of Peter, a little boy in the city. It was the first full-color picture book to have an African American protagonist. Keats received the 1963 Caldecott Medal for his illustrations.
A copy from 1962—when the book was first published—was recently added to the @silibraries branch at our @nmaahc.

❄️ Due to the winter storm, the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and our museums in the Washington, D.C. area will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

Oh my favorite book ever! I remember the magic of the snowy scenes❄️❄️ and being intrigued by the brown skin of the little boy 🙏🏾 🙏🏾... An important, simple and powerful message of equality, that made an impression on me as a child✨👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿
