??These silhouettes are made from the creases along the edge of a square of paper.
For "Origami," Kumi Yamashita photographs individuals, usually strangers, in the space for the site-specific work. From these photos, she creates highly technical drawings to adjust composition and scale so that the projected shadows will match the original profiles.
Then when it's lit indirectly, the Japanese paper creates the profile of a person's face, with multiple colors emphasizing the sitters’ individualism.
