Let’s talk about food. Once you identify your dosha it can useful to notice which foods are helpful or harmful to your constitution. Today’s focus is on Kapha-balancing. If you want to keep your Kapha balanced, try eating more whole foods in regular meals with little to no snacking, minimal alcohol and few sweets. Avoid overly-processed meals heavy with artificial substances and oils. Since Kapha is easily cooled, avoid overdoing it with raw fruits and veggies and go for warm food, especially during the winter months. Pungent, bitter and astringent tastes and even spicy foods can work well with Kapha. Minimize overly sweet, sour or salty foods. _ Day 7 is Chaturanga Dandasana. This four-pointed staff pose is great to stimulate just enough fire in the body to help balance Kapha. A truly challenging asana, Chaturanga Dandasana can be made accessible for all levels with a  few key pointers. Remember to choose the option that is right for you and never force it. _ Alignment keys to think about while practicing—. *Start off in Plank Pose and hold your body in a a slight spinal flexion while pushing from the shoulders to stabilize the upper back *When lowering down into the full pose keep the lower belly firm and only go as far as you can control the movement. Go slowly and work your strength every step of the way *If you are able to hold yourself in full Chaturanga Dandasana be sure to point the corners of your shoulders forward (not down) *Use blocks if you have wrist pain or to make more space when lowering down *Remember that you have nothing to prove.
