The path. It is always there for you. No matter how far you stray, the pure simplicity of it remains unchanged. There is no judgement, no penance to pay. The path is a act of love, a way out of misery. All you have to do is practice. _ At times the path will be brightly lit. In those times you will walk confidently. At other times dim. Sometimes so dim so shadows seem like deep crevices threatening to pull you under. But, have no fear. You will always have just enough light to see the next step. Look around. Torches have been left for by seekers whose footsteps have come before you and trod the ground under your feet at this exact spot. They stumbled and fell right here, and, out of compassion, they took the time to shine a light for you, so you would hopefully not fall where they did. _ In places where the path was too narrow, they worked to widen it and make it more accessible for all. _ Sometimes the path will be mushy and wet. You will yourself sliding in unstable ground. But you will not lose your way no matter how lost you feel. You decision to take even one step forward opens the doors to silent, invisible forces of goodness that seek to work in your favor. When you cannot walk any longer, when your heart is broken and you truly have nothing more to give, you will be lifted. Even when you stumble, you will get back up again and try again. If you can only crawl, you will do so with full faith that you will one day walk again. When you can walk, you will walk. _ And now, it’s yours. One day you will prepare path for others. _ Remember. You stand here today not on your own, not as a pioneer or an inventor, but as a recipient of the precious gift of Dhamma. Take good care of the path. _ Three days of noble silence. Three days of Vipassana. A return home, just long enough to strip away the bondage of the ego, to reset the mind and heart back to the natural state of freedom. _ To anyone thinking of doing a Vipassana, all I can say is please go do it. Don’t fear the silence. It will change your life. www.dhamma.org _ May all beings share in my peace ?
