This is what a survivor looks like. Except I don’t want to just survive, I want to thrive, to flourish, to evolve, to grow, to shine, to love and to really live. _ I work hard, probably too hard. I think I figured that if the world was going to try and keep me down I would just work harder to succeed. I had a naive idea that my hard work would pay off in just the way I imagined. But it doesn’t always work out like that. In fact it rarely does unfold how we want, with all our ideas coming to fruition just as we imagine. Or at least that’s my experience. But, it always does unfold just exactly how it’s supposed to. Even the pain, hardship and suffering is a teacher? Or it can be, if you let it. _ All that fire was also running from pain. In the furious need to achieve was also a dark space of self-rejection, shame, blame and judgement from all my traumas. _ It hasn’t been all bad. I spent years driven by my passion to succeed. Whether it was pressing up into handstand or opening a yoga center or founding an online channel for yoga, I am fiery person who rarely shies away from a challenge. But I tend to give so much and pull all my heart in things that I can get burnt out. That’s a Pitta quality, suffering from burn out after letting your fire rage for too long. Over years of practice I’ve learned how to give myself the space to just be. _ When I first started yoga I wasn’t interested in restorative or relaxing poses. I wanted the intensity. Now, I really value the benefits of basic poses like this to heal the body and mind. _ How about you? Who else has experienced the Pitta drive, with fire and burn out?
